We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without
error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is our infallible and supreme authority in all matters
of faith and life.

We believe there is one God who exists eternally in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit, that he created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them, and that he also
governs all their actions so that they fulfill the end for which they were created.

We believe that God created man in his own image and entered into a relationship of life and
love with him upon the condition of perfect obedience but that man willfully sinned against his
Creator and thereby fell into a state of sin, judgment, and death. From this state, people cannot
be delivered except through God’s unmerited grace.

We believe that God has not left the human race to perish in sin, but out of his great love with
which he loved it, has from all eternity graciously chosen an innumerable multitude to be saved
from the power and penalty of sin by a Redeemer, Jesus Christ. We may be assured that we are
among that number if we hold fast to him as our Savior and Lord.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who, in order to redeem us, became man
by being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary and born of
her yet without sin. By his obedient life and death and by the triumph of his resurrection, Jesus
Christ has atoned for the sins of all who trust in him alone for salvation. When we turn from our
sin to God for mercy and, renouncing all merit of our own, put our trust in Christ’s atoning
blood, God forgives all our sin, credits the perfect righteousness of Christ to us, assures us of
eternal life, and by his almighty Spirit begins renewing us in his likeness.

We believe that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven where he reigns with all authority and
makes continual intercession for his people so that we need fear no evil and may surely know
that nothing can snatch us out of his hands or separate us from his love.

We believe that God, according to his grace and power, works in Christians both to will and to
do what pleases him so that we are enabled more and more to die to sin and live to
righteousness.

We believe that God has given to his church the ministry of the Word and the holy ordinances
of Baptism, the Lord’s Supper and prayer. Through these means, the riches of God’s grace and
the benefits of salvation are applied to us who by faith receive them.

We believe that Jesus Christ shall return personally, visibly, and bodily to judge and renew the
world. Just as Christ triumphed over sin and death by being raised from the dead, so too, we
who trust in him have not only been raised to new life in this world but will be raised to
everlasting life in the renewed world to come. But those who do not trust in Christ will be
raised to everlasting death.
